Robinvale Community Arts Centre Welcomes Theatre Seating Upgrade

Visitors to the Robinvale Community Arts Centre will soon enjoy a more comfortable and accessible theatre experience, with the venue's seating being upgraded using high-quality commercial theatre seats from Melbourne's iconic Princess Theatre.

Council's Acting Director Community and Cultural Services, Simon Myers, said the new seating represents a significant investment in the venue and will enhance performances, concerts, school productions and community events for years to come.

"The new seating will significantly improve the comfort and overall experience for audiences.

"Designed specifically for professional performing arts venues, each fully upholstered and cushioned seat features an automatic retracting mechanism that folds away when not in use. This creates additional circulation space within the aisles, improving accessibility and making it easier for patrons to move throughout the theatre," he said.

Mr Myers said the project has also delivered an important community benefit, with the Arts Centre's original seating finding new homes with local organisations.

"Rather than sending the existing chairs to landfill, Council offered them to local community groups, and we're delighted that a number of organisations have enthusiastically taken up the opportunity to give them a second life.

"It's a great example of sustainability in action. By repurposing these chairs, we're extending their useful life, reducing waste and supporting local organisations with resources they can continue to use for many years," Mr Myer added.

The theatre seating upgrade forms part of Council's ongoing investment in the Robinvale Community Arts Centre, ensuring the venue continues to provide a high-quality performing arts experience for residents and visitors while supporting a vibrant arts and cultural community.
