Public Transport
A practical guide to getting around and to/from the Mallee. This is a reference to the services and where to plan a trip — not a full timetable (those change seasonally, so always check V/Line directly before travelling).

Plan a trip across Victoria's full public transport network, including local town bus routes.
Key routes serving the Mallee
V/Line train to Bendigo, then connecting coach onward to Swan Hill and Mildura. There is no passenger train beyond Bendigo on this corridor — the Mildura and Swan Hill legs run by coach.
The Swan Hill line is a full V/Line train service running via Bendigo to Melbourne (Southern Cross Station) — no coach transfer needed for this leg.
Local V/Line coach connecting Ouyen (on the Mildura corridor) to Sea Lake.
A connecting coach service also links Mildura westward — check the V/Line and SA public transport timetables for current days of operation.
Getting around locally
Mildura and Swan Hill have local town bus routes operated under the V/Line/PTV network. Use the PTV Journey Planner above to check current routes and timetables for your town.
Several Mallee towns run volunteer or community car programs for medical appointments and shopping trips (often through the local health service — see the health & urgent care directory). Ask your local council or health service about eligibility.
Taxi services operate in Mildura, Swan Hill and Robinvale. Rideshare (Uber) coverage is limited outside Mildura — check availability in the app before relying on it.
Mildura Airport has regular return flights to Melbourne and Adelaide. Swan Hill and Ouyen have small regional airstrips without scheduled passenger services.
Timetables, route names and fares change — always confirm the current schedule on vline.com.au or by phone before you travel.
