Victorian State Concert Orchestra returning to the Gannawarra

The Victorian State Concert Orchestra will return to Gannawarra this August, performing at the Kerang Memorial Hall on Sunday, 23 August from 2pm.

Following a successful 2024 concert that attracted more than 200 attendees, this year's event celebrates the Victorian State Concert Orchestra's centenary season, marking 100 years of musical excellence.

"We are pleased to once again welcome the Victorian State Concert Orchestra to Gannawarra," Council Chief Executive Officer Geoff Rollinson said.

"This year marks the Victorian State Concert Orchestra's centenary, so it is an honour for Council to host these accomplished performers in Kerang.

"The concert will also be a rare opportunity to see and hear a performance of this calibre close to home."

Led by conductor John Ferguson and featuring soprano Jane O'Toole, tenor Raymond Khong and concertmaster Loretta Frances Meagher, the program will include more than 20 musical selections spanning classical favourites, musical theatre and iconic movie themes.

"Whether you enjoy Strauss, Schubert and Verdi, musical theatre classics or iconic movie themes, there will be something in the program for everyone," Mr Rollinson said.

"It's the perfect lead into the local 2026 Book Week celebrations which coincidentally is themed 'Symphony of Stories'."

Tickets are $10 per person, with free admission for children aged 16 years and under. Afternoon tea is included in the ticket price.

Doors open at 1.30pm, with the concert commencing at 2pm. A short intermission will be held from 3pm to 3.30pm, during which afternoon tea will be served, before the concert concludes at approximately 4.30pm.
