Did You Know - Driveway Crossovers

Did you know that property owners are generally responsible for maintaining their driveway crossover (vehicle crossing) between the road and their property boundary?

Property Owner Responsibilities

Maintain the driveway crossover and any culvert, end walls, and driveway infill.

Keep loose gravel and driveway material off the road surface.

Obtain a Road Reserve Works Permit before constructing or altering a driveway crossover.

Utilise suitably qualified contractors.

Pay applicable permit and inspection fees.

Council Responsibilities

Maintain any constructed footpath that crosses the driveway crossover.

Assess and issue permits for works within the road reserve.

Help manage safety risks where hazards affect public infrastructure or public safety.

Before starting any driveway or crossover works, check Council's permit requirements to ensure your project complies with local regulations. Please refer to the images below for guidance.

All works within the road reserve require a

Road Reserve Works Permit

. This includes, but is not limited to, works for construction or alteration of driveway crossovers, nature strip, storm water drainage connections and footpaths.
