The CFA have upgraded 2 sites in Murtoa from a Low Bushfire Risk Area (LBRA) to a High Bushfire Risk Area (HBRA). These sites are located on the corner of the Wimmera Highway and Comyn Street, the heritage listed avenue of Kurrajong trees. These sites need to be made compliant before the Fire Danger Period is declared for 2026/27, as per
Powercor
's legal obligation.
The map (below) indicates the area of Comyn Street that will be impacted.
During the week commencing Monday 12 October 2026,
Powercor
will be undertaking pruning of the trees to meet the standards required for a High Bushfire Risk Area.
