Get ready for the 2026/27 outdoor swimming pool season
Residents and visitors will soon be able to dive back into summer, with the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools opening for the 2026/27 season at 4pm on Monday, 9 November.
Gannawarra Shire Council has spent the past few months preparing both facilities for what is expected to be another busy and enjoyable pool season.
"Last season almost 27,000 visits were recorded across the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor pools, and we're looking forward to welcoming thousands of residents and visitors back again this summer," Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
"Our teams have been working hard to get the pools and surrounding areas ready, while our lifeguards have been completing refresher training to ensure everyone can enjoy a safe and welcoming experience.
"Outdoor pools play an important role in our communities during the warmer months, providing opportunities for recreation, exercise and spending time with family and friends."
To help make the best use of staffing resources throughout the season, the following opening hours will apply:
Monday, 9 November to Monday, 30 November:
Open 4pm-8pm daily.
Tuesday, 1 December to Friday, 18 December:
Open 4pm-8pm weekdays and 12 noon-8pm weekends.
Saturday, 19 December to Wednesday, 27 January:
Open 12 noon-8pm daily.
Thursday, 28 January to Sunday, 28 February:
Open 4pm-8pm weekdays and 12 noon-8pm weekends.
Monday, 1 March to Monday, 8 March:
Open 4pm-8pm daily.
Both swimming pools will also be open from 1.00pm to 8.00pm on Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Australia Day and the Labour Day public holiday. The pools will be closed on Christmas Day.
"To help manage operating costs and staffing resources, the pools will not open on days when the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a maximum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius or below for Cohuna or Kerang," Mr Rollinson said.
"Any changes to opening hours, including weather-related closures, will be shared on Council's Facebook page, so we encourage pool users to check there before visiting if conditions are uncertain."
Season passes, which provide access to the Cohuna, Kerang and Leitchville swimming pools, will be available to purchase soon from Council's Customer Service Centres in Cohuna and Kerang, or from either pool once the season begins.
